Making my way back west: Close to Witchita Falls -- Lake Arrowhead State Park, Texas (May 2nd -- 3rd)

Owing to many storms passing through, this park--midpoint on my way to Palo Duro State Park-- was scenic but the campsites were filled with swamps and ants... I spent the one night here sleeping in my car!

lovely evening view looking out over Lake Arrowhead

Avocets-- couldn't get any closer, unfortunately... when I tried, they took to the air. But there were hundreds of them in the lake, and they were truly gorgeous birds!

Not a bad spot overall... I managed to once again make my car comfy enough to get a decent night's sleep

This says it all about Texas, does it not?! But DOESN'T speak to the myriad parks and expanses of natural beauty-- of which I got a small taste during the month of April and beginning of May.

Yep, the iconic Texan oil rig... operating right inside the park's campground!

One of the last day to enjoy the humidity and the wonderful curl it puts into my hair!!!
